The Year that was!

So the curtains draw on yet another year..!
This year has been full of ups and downs as usual.. just like all other years... more ups.. actually as I do not like cribbing; Thankfully having ended on a happy note..!
To recap the year that was for me... The first 6 months were pretty tough with me being in Chennai and Venkat being in Bangalore and me having to do the fortnightly trip back and forth between Chennai and Bangalore..! But as they say.. patience pays.. and it did definitely  pay off .. for me.. with me getting transferred back to Bangalore in July...!!!!!! YAY..! Also in the middle of the year.. 16th May to be precise we bought a Scorpio..yay for Venkat..! In november, around Diwali, we took our first big vacation in 3 years after our honeymoon and went on a trip to Sikkim with a couple of friends.. and I must admit Sikkim is truly paradise on earth...! On the career front, early this year Venkat was promoted at work and later during the year  I was assigned with additional responsibilities at work.. ! So all's well that end's well..! Here 's raising a toast  to a bright better and prosperous 2011..! Cheers!

Today is the day of screw ups by others and bashing from me!

It's really sad that for the first time in 5 years after having moved back to India, I am actually regretting the decision of having moved back....(:

Thanks to the highly ineffcient customer service and services in general in our country.

 Chapter 1:
I had applied for a post paid  mobile connection with Airtel on Monday at their relationship centre outlet.
I submitted copies of all the necessary documentation showing them the originals for verification , after which I was issued a sim and was told it would get activated the same night... It got activated next morning..
Yesterday i.e. Thursday.. a person from Airtel came to my office for verification, since I told I would not be available at home. He did all the necessary verification got my signature and left...!
This moring i.e. Friday, i get a message from Airtel, that since they are not in receipt of my documents, outgoing calls would be restriicted on my no.. What the hell?

I immediately called customer service and demanded to speak to a senior manager since the guys at the call centre give standard responses.. which will always mention.. " we regret inconvenience"... Bullshit.. "u are all meant only for putting people to inconvenience,,,So after several minutes of holding.. on the line ..a manager came on the line and I gave her a piece of my mind...saying how ridiculous can they be to demand the documents again when they have already been submitted..? Highly inefficient and not one bit co-ordinated service from  the so called major enterprise called AIRTEL. 5 THUMBS DOWN FOR AIRTEL.

Chapter 2: I had sent an envelope by First Flight courier from Bombay to Bangalore 2 days back on the 15th.The envelope has not yet been delivered at Bombay even while I am writing this post. Most couriers charge Only Rs 50to Bombay.. First Flight charged 85 and guaranteed next day delivery. But it's been 2 days and yet to be delivered. and when I check the staus online, they mention address insufficient...! How ridiculous...? the addresswas completely provided along with a phone no.
How can I not give a correct and sufficient address  when I have been living at that address for 23 years?
Besides even if the address is insufficient... what for is the phone no. provided.. cant they call the no. and get the correct  address? DUH ...! 10 THUMBS DOWN For First Flight Courier!

Why are Words such as "guarantee" and "regret"  used so loosely and so often in the Indian scheme of things .. when people don't even understand and mean what they say?

Rummy's back with a bang!

Hey guys, Sorry for the long hiatus..!  I promise to be more regular in my blogging henceforth.
Well I have been busy with mundane activities at work coupled with a whole bunch of additional responsibilities which I am actually enjoying...!
Promise to post my travelogue on Sikkim soon one of these days..!
In the meanwhile wanted to pen down a few thoughts that I have been strongly feeling about..!

The other day, I was walking near my office, when I saw a guy a little ahead of me , who looked like a lawyer ( bcos he was dressed like one!) spit pan on the road and get into a nearby parked car which happened to be a Volkswagen Polo.
Luckily for me ( Unluckily for him) the car was still parked at that place and as I walked past the car , I gave him a piece of my mind. Told him" He looked like an educated person and was sitting inside a fancy car, and how ridiculous it was of him to spit on the road in such a manner"
I just said this and walked away and did not even wait for him to react.

I strongly believe that when educated people like this litter on the road and spit , how can we expect the uneducated lot of our country to have civic sense and hold them responsible for our country being so dirty.
I think it is totally unfair.

Yesterday on TV, our honourable home minister Mr. P.Chidamabram made a statement : The rise of crime and rapes in Delhi was due to migrants.
What an ignorant and careless statement.
Mr.Home Minister, Bombay , the city where I was born and brought up, has an equal no. of, if not more migrants from other parts of the country.
Yet the crime rate and cases of rape in Bombay are far less than in Delhi and women in general feel more safe venturing out  alone in the night!

All this again boils down to the same basic inherent problem so widely prevalent in our country...

Whenever an incident occurs, we jump to passing the blame onto somebody and do not introspect! We seem to be more occupied in playing the blame game , passing the buck, rather than solving the problem itself!

I am back ..!

Alas, the much awaited two weeks of fun and frolic have come to an end and it's back again to the  and monotonous and drab life.
It all started with Mom's visit to Madras on 20th, followed by an uncle's 70th b'day celebrations ( with a family get together).
Then was spent a week with mom interspersed with shopping, a movie and dinner outings in the evening.
the week following was spent at neels in chennai( my 2nd home ) with cousins and her kids visiting from U.S., a dozen ppl at home, dinner outings evry night, games, drinks, movies, the works...!

I mis you all, Amma, Anshul, Rishabh & Bhavan...! Muuah.,.!
